Starting Again…

March 19th, 2011

I can’t believe that it has been well over a year since I have posted anything!  I like a lot of individuals have gotten caught up in the now and have neglected the importance of our long-term goals and dreams. And, have a myriad of excuses…

So I thought that I would re-start today the Sabbath before Purim.  Why re-start on this day?  Because the Shabbat prior to Purim is called “Shabbat  Zachor” – this takes its name for the Torah portion read on that day. Zachor means “Remember”; the Lord commanded Israel to remember what Amalek did to Israel when they were weary and tired in the way.

“Remember what Amalek did to you… how he met you on the way and attacked your rear ranks, all the stragglers at your rear, when you were tired and weary; and he did not fear God….” Deuteronomy 25:17-19

The question I asked myself is what has the world done to me when I was weary and tired in the day-to-day grind of life?  This reminds me of the parable of the Sower in Mark chapter 4 and Luke chapter 21; where the cares of the world choke out the Word.

Have I allowed the world, by focusing on work (the daily grind of keeping your job) to keep me from completely being abandoned to God?  What would happen if I gave more of myself to study of the Word, more to prayer and more to listening…

Would I have more time to do those things that are important to God?

So a new challenge to me – carve out more time for God and see what happens in my life.

My question to you is this – Are you allowing the cares of this world to choke out the dreams that God has given you? And the follow-up question is – if so what are you going to do about it?

Today’s Thoughts – Repentance & Works

January 15th, 2010

2 Chronicles 7.14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

We see in this scripture that it is a conditional promise. If we do four things, God will do three. If we humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, THEN we will hear from God, He will forgive our sins and heal our land.

We still know how to pray. But, do we remember how to repent? Can we humble ourselves? Do we remember how to seek His face? Can we turn from our wicked ways??  Without true repentance there is no hope for us as a people or for our nation.  We must return to our first love – the ardent zeal that we had when we first walked with Yeshua.

We cry out for refreshing and run to and fro to find the latest outpouring. Do we understand that repentance precedes refreshing? And, that refreshing will then lead to restoration.

Acts 3.19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Joel 2.25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

“The Church has amputated its hands and its feet, and all that is left is its mouth.” Rick Warren

We the Church/Congregation as a whole are talking the talk, but we must honestly ask ourselves if we are walking the walk? Are we showing our faith to others by our good works or are we just telling others about our faith?  I believe that for the most part, if we are serving, it is to those who are in our own congregations. And that is so sad.

James 2.18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

My 2009 Reading List Favorites

December 31st, 2009

I have spent a fair portion of 2009 traveling and so I have had the pleasure of passing a lot of time in airports and on aircraft coming and going. One of the ways that I spend my time while traveling is to read. Unfortunately, I am blessed (?) with the ability to read and comprehend quickly. While I love to read, I really do not like to write. So, here I am writing on a blog???? It doesn’t make a lot of sense, does it? I think that I need to improve my writing skills so one way to do this is to write. So, I will do this and be successful as well.

The top dozen books of the 120+ that I have read or re-read in 2009 are:

(Always #1 is the Complete Jewish Bible & The Spirit-Filled Life Bible these are my top 2 study bibles period)

1. God’s War on Terror by Walid Shoebat and Joel Richardson

2. The Complete Works of E.M. Bounds on Prayer by E.M. Bounds

3. It’s Your Ship by Captain D. Michael Abrashoff

4. The Noticer by Andy Andrews

5. Next Generation Leader by Andy Stanley

6. Mentor Like Jesus by Regi Campbell

7. One Second After by William R. Forstchen

8. Holy Roller by Julie Lyons

9. Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus by Ann Spangler & Lois Tverberg

10. Israelology by Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum

11. Sons of God by Rebecca Ellen Kurtz

12. Never Surrender by LTG (Ret) William G. Boykin

I also read fiction, nonfiction as well as biographies to stay as well rounded as possible. Next time I may try to break some down into categories. A good friend has challenged me to read biographies on all of the presidents which I am in the process of doing. Although I am not sure how I will handle Obama. As I do not consider him a president, just an occupier of the oval office (BHO the OOO). In this category I have read biographies on the first 4 Presidents and will continue in order.

Another category that I really like to read is the Civil War, and am currently reading about the Battle of Chancellorsville.

And in the Christian categories I enjoy Messianic or Hebraic Roots, Prayer, Christian Living, and Eschatology. But not necessarily in that order.

In addition to being a minister, I am also in the healthcare field specializing in information technology, so I also focus on IT as well as Parish Nursing and texts on healing and prayer.

To keep relatively up to date with what is happening in the here and now, I also try to read some titles in current events. Now you know more than you probably want to know, and you know something? I don’t care!

I hope that you have a safe and happy new year!

Harken O Ye People

O’ Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel! You are the Holy One! I surrender to Your will. For the Lord He is God and Lord You will reign forever more! As Watchmen, we will not keep silent! We shall stand on the walls and sound the warning. Yeshua is about to return. Make your paths straight. Ask for the old paths! That is the good way! Walk the old paths and you shall have rest! Stray not to the left or the right. People harken to the sound of the shofar!

Christian Culture ???

December 31st, 2009
Orginally Posted Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 9:16pm
The prevailing “christian culture” is in reality no more than the prevailing “societal culture”. There is for the most part, unfortunately, in a large percentage of the “churches” today that type of “christian culture” and it permeates the church from the top down. The membership does and will take on the characteristics of it’s leaders.

Has the “church” become irrelevant? – I don’t think that the “Church” has become irrelevant as such, I think that it is more misguided and lost than anything. It really has for the most part lost it’s way because (IMHO) the leadership has lost their focus. As long as leadership is winking or tolerating sin it will continue a downward spiral. The denominational “churches” are quickly circling the drain and guess what? The Pentecostal and Charismatics are right behind. Where is the clarion call from ministry leadership to the members to turn from the things of this world? Where are the calls to prayer and fasting? Where are the leaders who dare to make a stand and declare that the Word of God is the answer and that sin is sin? I have seen on the whole, very few ministers who standup and declare God’s Word as their final authority and act like it! Who cares if you loose your non-profit status, God is your source not Uncle Sam! Where is the accountability not only for the leaders but the members as well. If you are not in a church that believes that the Word of God is the final authority – GET OUT! Find one that does, and if not start a bible study in your home.

I have heard it said that “We don’t need another bible study program” – with the rate of bible illiteracy and the rate of immorality within the “church” we need MORE in home bible studies. That is where discipleship will start and accountability will start in a small group. Do you think that the pastor of a church of 1,000 or 25,000 will know me? How is he going to know what the status of the flock is?? It is in the small group that you will find accountability. Find someone to help you stay accountable. Make that commitment to yourself and to Yeshua.

I believe that the “church” as we call it has the main purpose of spreading the “Good News” and “Making Disciples or Talmidim”, period. Everything else that the church does will and should flow from those two purposes. If it doesn’t then you have to ask yourself are you doing what Yeshua has commanded the “church” to do?

It is time, as Christine Darg has wonderfully written, for the body of Messiah to Awake and Arise!

Get on your knees, get into prayer, into the Word, into a fellowship that is infused with the Ruach HaKodesh and the Word. Continually be filled with the Ruach HaKodesh and out of your innermost being will flow RIVERS of Living Water. Not just a trickle, but Rivers!

Everything else will flow from that overflow.

God Has Given Them Up…

December 31st, 2009

Sun October 11, 2009 at 10:29pm

Romans 1.28 In other words, since they have not considered God worth knowing, God has given them up to worthless ways of thinking; so that they do improper things.

While reading Romans Chapter 1 today, I was struck by verses 16-32. My wife and I just finished a trip up north to CT to visit our oldest daughter and while we were there we went to Southern Vermont to spend the night with my youngest brother. We decided to take the scenic route driving on secondary roads rather than the interstate. As we were motoring along US 5 and crossed the Vermont state line (the gateway to Vermont as it was once called) – we noticed that the once scenic highway was filled with trash and most yards were junk-filled as well.

As we spent the evening with my brother and his wife, we were talking about the area and what had been occurring through the years. Since I left in the very early 70′s, Vermont has made many transformational changes – most unfortunately for the worse (IMHO). The people of the state embraced change, going from conservative to liberal, alternative life styles, “gay” unions, and other changes. They had a bout of public nudity where the town selectmen would not make a public nudity ordinance because “they did not want to legislate morality”. In the minds of the liberals for the better, I am sure. Now they have a transvestite that not only teaches school, but is the town celebrity and has been the grand marshall of a number of the local parades.

Where is the “Church” in all of this? The same place that it is in the rest of the country. Asleep at the wheel.

What I believe that we were being shown is what everyone will recognize – what goes on on the inside will eventually show up on the outside. Unfortunately, by the time it shows up on the outside we have been so conditioned to the mess, we don’t recognize it for what it is and by that time we believe that it is the norm.

I am also of the mind, that we (by we I mean the USA) are getting exactly what we have asked for… The condition of what we have in this country is not necessarily the fault of all the liberals. I believe that because of a church/congregational leadership failure and an apathetic Body of Messiah, we are getting exactly what we have not stood for.

Romans 1.28 In other words, since they have not considered God worth knowing, God has given them up to worthless ways of thinking; so that they do improper things.

Romans 1.29 They are filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and vice; stuffed with jealousy, murder, quarrelling, dishonesty and ill-will; they are gossips,

Romans 1.30 slanderers, haters of God; they are insolent, arrogant and boastful; they plan evil schemes; they disobey their parents;

Romans 1.31 they are brainless, faithless, heartless and ruthless.

Romans 1.32 They know well enough God’s righteous decree that people who do such things deserve to die; yet not only do they keep doing them, but they applaud others who do the same.

For the most part, we have not left the confines of our comfortable congregations – we have failed to go into the highways and byways and compelled them to come in. Can we say that we are “Watchmen” standing on the wall ready to sound the alarm?

Ezekiel 33.2 “Human being, speak to your people; say to them, ‘Suppose I bring the sword on a country, and the people of that country take one of their men and appoint him their watchman.

Ezekiel 33.3 Now if, upon seeing the sword coming against that country, he blows the shofar and warns the people;

Ezekiel 33.4 then, if the sword comes and takes away someone who heard the sound of the shofar but paid no attention to it, the responsibility for that person’s death will be his own —

Ezekiel 33.5 he heard the shofar but paid no attention, so the responsibility for his death is his own; whereas if he had paid attention, he would have saved his life.

Ezekiel 33.6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the shofar, so that the people are not warned; and then the sword comes and takes any one of them, that one is indeed taken away in his guilt, but I will hold the watchman responsible for his death.’

Ezekiel 33.7 “Likewise you, human being — I have appointed you as watchman for the house of Isra’el. Therefore, when you hear the word from my mouth, warn them for me.

Ezekiel 33.8 When I tell the wicked person, ‘Wicked person, you will certainly die’; and you fail to speak and warn the wicked person to leave his way; then that wicked person will die guilty; and I will hold you responsible for his death.

Ezekiel 33.9 On the other hand, if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he doesn’t turn from his way; then he will still die guilty, but you will have saved your own life.

I firmly believe that we are in the “Last of the Last Days” and the soon appearing of our Lord for His body. – That does not negate the responsibility of the Body not for just looking for Him, but that we should be actively being His hands, His voice, His feet, showing His compassion, love and mercy to the people of a lost and dying world.

Isaiah 52.7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

What do we do? We need to tell the truth in love, do not back down from the truth of the Word – use it to measure our lives, our successes, and even out failures. Stand up for the Word and all of it’s principles. Remember that our relationship with Yeshua is vertical but the love of Yeshua is shared horizontally. And, above all remember time is short.

Being Busy & Behind!

August 21st, 2009

I am so behind in almost everything it is not even funny any more so… What I am going to do to try and get caught up are post thoughts as they occur and then when time permits, really attempt to write meaningful prose. We will see. The real truth of the matter is I really do not like to write and feel very inadequate in putting thoughts on paper. This is coming from someone who flunked freshman english twice! So here we go!

There is no position in the body of Mashiach that can be filled without prayer. Prayer keeps Adonai in the congregation in full force. A lack of prayer equals a lack of power. And we need power in these last days. If there is a lack of Ruach HaKodesh power manifesting, there will be a lack of prayer. Revival is dependent upon prayer and power.

Isaiah 62.6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, Isaiah 62.7 And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

Prayer, to be effective, must be definite and specific.

Revival begins with prayer, it only continues by prayer, and if it ends well, it will end with prayer. Hot fervent supplicating prayer.

A life with the fullness and power of the Ruach HaKodesh is one of the most remarkable features of a spirit-filled believer.

The fire and power of the Ruach HaKodesh filled life impregnates, quickens, and overflows the believer. It is the new wine of the kingdom.

The lack of fire is the sure sign of the lack of God’s presence. E.M. Bounds – Hebrews 12.29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Graduation!

August 2nd, 2009

I just learned of a very dear friend’s graduation. Not from high school or College – but from this life to the next.

2Corinthians 5.8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Time is running out for those of us here on this earth. Not all of us will graduate. Some will be held back. I understand that everyone will live forever, just in different places – smoking or non-smoking. The choice is yours. Believe me, choose non-smoking! Choose Life!

Revelation 20.15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Right now if I know Ross, he is involved in the Praise and Worship of Yeshua. It was not too long ago that I was speaking to him about his wife Marie’s graduation. As a matter of fact it was just about this time, last year. Thank G-d we have that hope of seeing our family and friends that have made that commitment to Him – the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! We know that one day soon; wether we die or get caught up together with them in the clouds – that we will be together with them and Yeshua forever.

1Thessalonians 4.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Thessalonians 4.16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Thessalonians 4.17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Revelation 20.6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Revelation 22.5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever

I have never heard him say an unkind word to or about anyone. – He always had a smile on his face, even when speaking about Marie when she had just moved to heaven. He was a wonderful and faithful brother, friend, mentor, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed the ministry and his greatest love was serving Yeshua. As I am sitting here writing these words, I can remember the countless hours that we spent in prayer and worship together. Often completing each others thoughts and petitions to the L-rd. He often remarked to me that when he meets Yeshua that he hoped to hear “Well done, good and faithful servant” and not “Well???”. And then he would laugh and talk some more about His L-rd! On Friday nights my wife and I would head to Ross and Marie’s home for bible study and worship and fellowship. This time together was the highlight of the week. I only hope that others have at least one relationship that is like this.

We have missed Marie and we will miss our brother, but this one thing we believe we shall see them soon and be with Yeshua forever!

A last thought – Death is the end of excuses and any chance of asking Yeshua into your life do so now before the beginning of eternity.

Revelation 22.7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

It’s time to seek the old paths!

July 25th, 2009

Jeremiah 6.16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

I love this verse of scripture – and I believe that the church today here in America could benefit from it. We have become so busy, with life, family, jobs, and Church. But not with G-d. Just because we are busy does not necessarily mean progress. We need progress with G-d. And we must honestly answer ourselves if we have left our first love. It is my belief that the “Church” here in the U.S. is mainly a social gospel. And, as long as it benefits us socially we attend. At least until the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) via the Pastor starts to make us uncomfortable with His messages.

We as church leadership need to be spending more time on our knees and faces before the L-rd, crying out for the lost. Time is short and the sand is running out of the hourglass much too quickly. The Church needs to hear about the Blood of Yeshua, Holiness, Sanctification, Prayer and a number of older subjects that you hardly ever hear about. When was the last time that you heard a sermon about hell?, or even heaven?

Do we the church want rest? Then find the old paths that our parents and grandparents and great grandparents walked. Spend time crying out to Adonai on the alter benches in the church. (do you remember what they are? or have you ever seen them?) Clean out your prayer closet and spend time seeing what it is the G-d would have you to do. Remember time is short and yet we the Church have so much to do.

We must lay aside those weights that are holding us back and/or slowing us down, and seek His face and not His hands. (Psalms 27:8 My heart said of you, “Seek my face.” Your face, Adonai, I will seek.

I have been told by numerous missionaries that have travelled abroad as well as those who have been sent here in the US that there is much prayer in what we would call the third world countries for us – that we would awaken and be restored to our first love.

L-rd, revive us, awaken us your people, give unto us a desire to be used like never before. Awaken us in the night-time for prayer. Let us be instant in season and out. Revive us O L-rd! Send now revival to your Church.

Psalms 85.6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
Psalms 85.7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.

Habakkuk 3.2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

Hello world!

July 25th, 2009

Welcome to RogerGauthier.com! Here you will find my coherent and sometimes incoherent ramblings.  Topics will be many and varied.  As you read, you will find that I am a conservative and more of a constitutionalist than not. I am also a Christian – Spirit-Filled with significant Messianic leanings.  I am also a pre-tribulationalist rapture fanatic.

Now, if that has not scared you off. I am also a husband, father (5 – 4 girls and 1 son), and a grandfather (8).  I am a minister of the Gospel of Yeshua or Jesus for those non-Messianics.  And have been for 17 years.  And if that is not enough, I also work for a global health-care software firm as a consultant.

Historically, I served in the US Army (2BN 172nd Armor), and the US Air Force (Security Forces).  From the military I went to college – where I continue till today (a slow learner).  I have been a Paramedic (1970′s – 1991), a RN for over 25 years, FireFighter, Law Enforcement Agent, as well as a heathen.

I grew up in Southern Vermont in the 50′s and early 60′s when the values that my parents and neighbors imparted were conservative and Christian – even though most of us were in fact heathen.  Now, the State as moved so far to the Left; I have lost sight of it.

Now, really get ready to run or hit the back button!  I believe that we are currently in the “Last of the Last Days” biblically speaking.  No, I am not a nut or a fruitcake, but a firm believer in the Bible.  I believe it says what it means and means what it says.  No amount of discussion, intimidation or whatever will sway me from the rock of truth that I stand on.  That being said, I love Bible prophecy and watching it come to pass in the news of today.  If you stick around long enough you will see what I mean.

I hope that you continue to return and that the words that I happen to put down will give you cause to think, and more importantly study the Word of God for yourself to see if what I have said is actually there.

May the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) open your eyes, ears and hearts to His Words that will end up here on these pages.
